About the Award

Campus Compact recognizes one faculty member each year for exemplary engaged scholarship, including leadership in advancing students’ civic learning, conducting community-based research, fostering reciprocal community partnerships, building institutional commitments to service-learning and civic engagement, and other means of enhancing higher education’s contributions to the public good. The award — previously known as the Thomas Ehrlich Faculty Award for Service-Learning — is named in honor of Thomas Ehrlich, former chair of the Campus Compact board of directors and president emeritus of Indiana University.

One award of $2,000 will be granted to a faculty member from a Campus Compact member institution. Up to ten finalists will also be selected and recognized.

With questions regarding the award, please contact us at awards {at} compact(.)org and include “Ehrlich Award” in the subject line or call (617) 357-1881.

More about the Ehrlich Award

The Swearer Award has provided me with such an incredible venue for advocacy. At Penn, I've had the chance to speak to faculty, students, and alumni who are interested more than ever in supporting the civic mission of higher education."

-Mei Elansary, University of Pennsylvania, recipient of Campus Compact's Swearer Student Humanitarian Award
