Partnerships Overview

Campus Compact is committed to developing and sustaining strategic partnerships that serve our mission and our members. Our work serves to deepen the commitment of higher education institutions to their civic missions, with the goal of creating educational environments that support the development of students’ civic skills and knowledge, as well as their ability to address social issues in ways that promote justice, democracy, and sustainability.

Our approach to collaboration is grounded in the same values and principles commonly advocated for high-quality campus-community partnerships, including:

  • Clear, common goals and ongoing communication;
  • Shared resources and mutual benefit; and
  • Mobilization of each partner’s distinct assets.

Our interest is in developing partnerships that promise to advance:

  • Reciprocal partnerships between campuses and communities.
  • Academic cultures and policies that recognize high-quality engaged scholarship.
  • Programs that support the development of students’ civic identities, skills, and knowledge.
  • Efforts that address the cultural and financial barriers to college access and success among diverse student populations.
  • Opportunities for deliberative, inclusive dialogue about important public issues.
  • Institutional engagementÑinitiatives where campuses aim to operate responsibly as major employers, landowners, purchasers, etc., as well as educators and researchers.
  • Documentation of the impact of this work and efforts to communicate results and apply lessons to practice.

We have valued any and all opportunities from Kentucky Campus Compact to meet and converse with faculty and staff from other colleges working in service-learning and civic engagement."
